Luxury Bathroom Refurbishment
Epping, Essex
Stripped back to the substrate A detached family home in Epping with an original 1990s bathroom that had reached the end of its useful life. The clients wanted a full transformation — a freestanding bath as the centrepiece, a fully tanked wet-room shower zone, underfloor heating, and large-format stone-effect porcelain throughout. Budget was allocated for a premium fit-out and they wanted the project completed before the Christmas period.
Tanking membrane applied — ready for tiling After the full strip-out — removing all sanitaryware, floor coverings and wall tiles down to the stud and block — our team applied a multi-coat tanking membrane to walls and floor before the wet room former was screeded in. Underfloor heating cables were embedded in the screed layer at this stage. Getting the substrate absolutely flat and waterproof is the foundation everything else rests on; we don't cut corners here.
Freestanding bath installed and dressed Large-format 1200×600 porcelain panels were laid floor-to-ceiling throughout, with rectified edges allowing near-invisible grout joints. The wet room channel drain was centred precisely beneath the shower head position. Once tiling was complete, our fit-out team installed the freestanding roll-top bath, wall-hung vanity unit with undermount basin, and all sanitaryware and brassware to the client's specification.
Ready for handover — ahead of schedule LED mirror, heated towel rail, and bespoke shelving were fitted as the final touches. The wet room screen was installed last to protect the glass during all preceding trades. After a full snagging check — not a single item raised — the bathroom was handed over spotlessly clean, two days ahead of programme. The clients moved back in before their planned Christmas deadline.
The finished project.
The attention to detail was extraordinary. Every tile is perfectly level, the wet room floor drains exactly as it should, and the finish is better than anything we've seen in a show home. Claremont turned a very ordinary bathroom into something genuinely special.
